OR&R Recognized at Oil Spill Conference

The International Oil Spill Conference 2014 was held in Savannah, Georgia, during the week of May 4. The conference included almost 2000 participants from 67 countries.

In addition to a trade show, short courses, and over 45 platform sessions, the conference included a poster session. The poster displays were organized by the four major themes of the conference: Prevent, Prepare, Respond, and Restore. OR&R won two of the four categories for best poster. Doug Helton and Vicki Loe won IOSC 2014 best poster award for best preparedness poster, with "How to Better Manage Public Expectations and Information Concerning Oil and Chemical Response."

Brad Benggio and co-authors won for IOSC 2014 best poster award for response category, “Tidal Inlet Protection Strategies for Oil Spill Response; Concepts, Testing, and Considerations.” Mr. Benggio’s co-authors were LCDR Kimberly Chesteen (USCG), Jason DeSantis (National Response Corporation), Richard Knudsen, (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission), and CAPT John Slaughter (USCG).
