Atlantic ERMA and the Sandy Response

In October 2012, Hurricane Sandy roared toward the mid-Atlantic Coast. Even as the hurricane transitioned to a post-tropical cyclone, the reach of the storm was astonishing, with wind, waves, and storm surge wreaking havoc especially along the coasts of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

OR&R's Atlantic Environmental Response Management Application (ERMA®), an online mapping tool for New York and New Jersey waters, provided the U.S. Coast Guard and other responders across the region with up-to-date environmental response information. Atlantic ERMA brings together data and images from different sources into a common web-based tool to support ongoing environmental remediation and restoration activities throughout this region.
