2019 Annual Meeting of the North Pacific Marine Science Organization

NOVEMBER 4, 2019 — On October 16-27, the Marine Debris Program (MDP) was represented at the 2019 Annual Meeting of the North Pacific Marine Science Organization which took place in Victoria, BC Canada.

As a member of Working Group 42: Indicators of Marine Plastic Pollution, MDP's Chief Scientist, Amy V. Uhrin, attended the WG42 business meeting and its organized special session, Environmental Indicators of Plastic Pollution in the North Pacific. In addition, Amy presented in the Marine Environmental Quality session on MDP's collaborative project with the Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center, "Abundance of Marine Debris Estimated from Hawaii’s Longline Observer Data”. MDP's Alaska Regional Coordinator, Peter Murphy, also presented at the meeting in the Environmental Indicator Session, where he discussed the Arctic Council's Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme for which he is the MDP representative.
