Alaska Marine Science Symposium Presentations Offered in Seattle

FEBRUARY 24, 2017--In January, NOAA scientists presented papers and posters at the annual Alaska Marine Science Symposium in Anchorage.

On March 1 and the morning of March 2, NOAA scientists from Seattle and Alaska will repeat their 15-20 minute presentations for the benefit of NOAA staff members who were unable to attend in January. Included will be an 11:30 am repeat presentation by Dr. Alan Mearns, highlighting volunteer contributions to the 27-year history of Mearns Rock trends in Prince William Sound.

Many other presentations will cover the oceanography, ecology and human interactions of the Gulf of Alaska, the Bering Sea and, on Thursday morning, the Arctic Ocean. Many papers have implications for spill response in all three of Alaska's seas. The schedule of presentations is available on the Alaska Fisheries Science Center website [PDF]. Many thanks to NOAA Fisheries' Communications Coordinator Rebecca Reuter for organizing this special event!
