ALOHA Used in Coast Guard Maritime Security Training and Exercise Program

DECEMBER 11, 2015--Mark Miller and LTJG Steven Wall of the OR&R’s Emergency Response Division prepared a modeled trajectory and participated in the U.S. Coast Guard District 8 Sector New Orleans Annual Area Maritime Security Training and Exercise Program functional exercise.

The Areal Locations of Hazardous Atmospheres (ALOHA) output for the Coast Guard was used during the port-security exercise conducted on December 9, 2015 and was attended by Tier I and Tier II federal and local response and security personnel including the FBI, Coast Guard Investigative Service, and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

ALOHA is the air hazard modeling program in the CAMEO software suite developed jointly by OR&R and EPA.

The purpose of the exercise is to test the Area Maritime Security Plan in the event of a transportation security incident.
