Beaufort Sea Site Visit

AUGUST 24, 2015--The week of August 17, 2015, a team of scientists from Office of Response and Restoration’s Emergency Response Division traveled to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska.

The trip is a continuation of OR&R’s effort to gain familiarity with the coastal Arctic’s diverse shorelines and nearshore habitats, and with the basics of working in these remote and harsh environments so that field personnel will be better prepared to support an emergency pollution incident response. Logistical and field support for this trip was provided through partnering with the Alaska Clean Seas oil spill response services organization. The team conducted shoreline reconnaissance throughout the Prudhoe Bay oil fields and shorelines, Cross Island and Beechey Point in the Beaufort Sea, and along the Sagavanirktok River near Deadhorse, Alaska.
