CAMEO Stakeholder Workshop Provides Input on Future Development

APRIL 24, 2015--On April 15 and 16, 2015, emergency planners and responders gathered at NOAA's Gulf of Mexico Disaster Response Center in Mobile, Alabama, for an in-depth discussion of the CAMEO software suite in light of Presidential Executive Order (EO) 13650 to improve chemical facility safety and security.

The workshop included nearly 30 participants representing many different areas of the country and a wide range of stakeholders at the federal, state, and local levels of government, as well as fire department services. During this workshop, the stakeholders provided input on the changes to the CAMEO software suite proposed by the EO, as well as discussing possible options for improvements to training and outreach to make more people aware of these freely available tools. The two-day workshop was hosted by the joint developers of the CAMEO software suite, NOAA's Office of Response and Restoration and EPA's Office of Emergency Management, and facilitated by the University of New Hampshire's Coastal Response Research Center.
