CAMEO Team Talks Mobile Apps with State Emergency Planners

MAY 19, 2017--On May 8 - 12, CAMEO software suite team members (from NOAA and EPA) attended the National Association of SARA Title III Program Officials conference in Florida to share recent program updates and seek input on upcoming CAMEO products.

During this annual four-day conference, emergency planners (at the state, tribal, and local levels), first responders, private industry, and federal agencies convene to help states better prepare for and mitigate disasters.

As one of the conference speakers, the CAMEO team discussed mobile app development, including the recently released CAMEO Chemicals app and a future app for state planners, called the EPCRA Data Viewer. State and local planners and responders provided input into the features they’d like to see included in the app and signed up to provide additional feedback further in the development cycle.

Conference attendees also discussed regulatory issues pertaining to chemical storage and transportation, shared best practices for hazmat training, observed a Florida State Emergency Response Commission meeting, saw a demonstration of a tool for improving hazardous commodity transportation flow studies, and toured the Brevard County Emergency Operations Center (the most frequently activated in the country).
