NOAA's Assessment and Restoration Division and Restoration Center shared Conservation Awards for progress made toward reconnecting tributaries through dam removal and culvert upgrades with other state, federal, regional and local agencies, non-profits and consultants. See the photo of those recognized. Conservation Award recipients in the front row are: Lisa Rosman (NOAA), John Jengo (Stantec), Fran Dunwell (New York State Department of Environmental Conservation), Cathy Marion (US Fish and Wildlife Service), and Melisa Foster (US Fish and Wildlife Service). Award recipients in the back row are: Rob Pirani (New York-New Jersey Harbor Estuary Program), Reyhan Mehran (NOAA), Dave Bean (New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection), Carl Alderson (NOAA), and Mark Walters (New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection).

NOAA's contribution includes the pending removal of the Weston Mill dam on the Millstone River, under an American Cyanamid Superfund natural resource damage settlement, and a multi-year investigation of impediments to fish passage on the Lower Hudson River that resulted in the state working with the City of Troy to remove the first dam on the Wynants Kill.
