DIVER: Data Integration, Visualization, Exploration and Reporting Tool

APRIL 30, 2015--A new data warehouse and custom query tool, developed by OR&R to support the Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA) for the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill, is now available for the public to use.

The tool is named “DIVER”, which stands for the “Data Integration, Visualization, Exploration and Reporting tool” and can be accessed at https://www.diver.orr.noaa.gov/. DIVER provides unprecedented flexibility for filtering and downloading validated data collected as part of the ongoing NRDA. Previously, validated data were being posted on https://www.gulfspillrestoration.noaa.gov/ as soon as they were available, but in discrete packets/files instead of a comprehensive manner in which DIVER allows. The DIVER data warehouse builds upon business intelligence data management practices by integrating diverse environmental datasets collected from across the Gulf of Mexico ecosystem into a common centralized data repository.
