Dr. Kathryn Sullivan Attends Arctic Presentations at NOAA Sand Point (Seattle)

AUGUST 19, 2016--On Friday, August 12, 2016, OR&R Seattle hosted Dr. Kathryn Sullivan, NOAA Administrator and Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere, for briefings on Arctic activities.

There were three presentations: Dr. Jim Overland from the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL) talked about ice cover and trends, Dr. Douglas DeMaster, Science and Research Director of the Alaska Fisheries Science Center, spoke on fisheries issues in the Arctic, and Doug Helton from OR&R’s Emergency Response Division summarized recent National Ocean Service activities, including charting, tide stations, Arctic council support, and a variety of OR&R planning activities for spills in the Arctic.
