Marine Debris Division Represents the U.S. at a G7 Meeting in Germany

NOVEMBER 3, 2016--The week of October 24, the Marine Debris Division represented the U.S. Government at a meeting of G7 countries focused on combating the issue of marine debris globally.

The meeting was held in Bremen, Germany and was hosted by the German Government. In 2015, Germany held the Presidency of the G7 and included marine debris as a priority focus area. In 2017, Germany will lead the G20. The intent of this meeting was to refine actions identified in the G7 process and widen the scope to include more countries. The group included the representatives from all G7 countries (Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Canada, and Japan) as well as selected G20 countries (South Africa, Brazil, and Indonesia).
