Marine Debris Planning in Florida

MAY 27, 2016--Last week the NOAA Marine Debris Program coordinated and hosted the Third Florida Marine Debris Reduction Plan Meeting, in partnership with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, bringing together the marine debris community throughout the state of Florida.

Participants prioritized strategies and actions to addresses consumer debris, derelict fishing gear, emergency response to waterway debris, wildlife and habitat impacts, and abandoned and derelict vessels. The work accomplished by participants at this and the previous two workshops will be incorporated into the Florida Marine Debris Reduction Plan currently being developed.
