Marine Debris Program Launches New Video Series: Trash Talk

JUNE 12, 2015--Are you ready for some Trash Talk? Of course we're talking about the marine debris kind. In honor of World Ocean Day on June 8, 2015, the NOAA Marine Debris Program, along with NOAA Ocean Today, launched a series of video-shorts titled "Trash Talk."

The shorts take a closer look into the world of marine debris covering exactly "What is marine debris?", busting myths on "What is the Great Pacific Garbage Patch?", explaining "Why is plastic marine debris so common?" and also helping find solutions by learning about "What can we do about marine debris?." You can watch the complete series, including the 15-minute special feature on the program's website.

Marine debris staff also participated in the Sant Ocean Hall's World Ocean Day event at the National Museum of Natural History Museum reaching more than 150 visitors to talk about marine debris and its impacts to the ocean environment.
