A New Health and Safety Coordinator for OR&R

JULY 22, 2016--OR&R has a new Health and Safety Coordinator! After 24 years in this position, Nir Barnea, the outgoing health and safety coordinator, is hanging up his safety boots to focus solely on his marine debris responsibilities.

“It has been a great run” Nir said “I enjoyed working with the OR&R staff and management, to find solutions that worked well for the organization. But it is time for new blood, and a full time safety person. I wish Ali all the best”.

On July 18, Ali Bahrami-Bayeh came to OR&R in Seattle, where he will be based, to meet with a number of people and began learning the job in earnest. Ali brings to the job five years of experience in the health and safety arena, including management of a safety program for a large company, and his training as a chemical engineer. “First week here has been awesome! I am amazed about all the things we do here at OR&R. I have met so many of you and look forward to working together with you.”

In the next weeks Ali will meet with managers and staff, and visit the NOAA Disaster Response Center and OR&R headquarters in Silver Spring, all to get to know OR&R even better. Please feel free to contact Ali with your safety questions, suggestions, or concerns.
