JULY 15, 2016--Plastic debris can be found in all shapes and sizes, but debris that is less than five-millimeters long is called "microplastic."

Last month, the NOAA Marine Debris Program's chief scientist, Amy Uhrin, sat down with NOS' Kate Nielsen for a recent Diving Deeper podcast, to help us better understand microplastics in the marine environment. The podcast covered what microplastics are, impacts to both marine habitats and animals, and what we can do to help reduce their presence of in our ocean and Great Lakes.
