Old Colleagues and New Information Converge in Savannah for 2014 International Oil Spill Conference

The NOAA co-sponsored International Oil Spill Conference 2014 occurs every three years and is always a valuable place for OR&R's oil spill responders and scientists to network, exchange information, and learn about the state of oil spill response in the U.S. and around the world.

This year was no different. OR&R certainly left their mark on IOSC 2014 from conference planning and execution to delivery of short courses, presentations and posters to building and cementing crucial partnerships that facilitate the next response, where ever it may be.

Of note, two NOAA posters received highest recognition during the luncheon awards banquet! Please congratulate Brad Benggio and his co-authors on winning best response poster, Tidal Inlet Protection Strategies for Oil Spill Response; Concepts, Testing, and Considerations. Also congratulate Doug Helton and Vicki Loe for winning best preparedness poster, How to Better Manage Public Expectations and Information Concerning Oil and Chemical Spill Response.

Thanks to Dave Westerholm and Mark Dix for their tireless work on the Executive Committee and efforts to pull off another great IOSC.
