OR&R Assists with Area Contingency Plan Reviews and Updates for USCG Sector Miami

USCG Sector Miami is holding a series of county focused updates for the local area contingency plan that started on February 11, 2015, in Broward County.

These working meetings are being held to review portions of the plan with focus on the geographic response plan components and tidal inlet protection strategies. The plans have been in existence since the early nineties and are regularly reviewed and updated. They provide critical response information that responders use during oil spills to "hit the ground running". Information pertaining to priorities for protection and associated protection strategies are the contained in the plans as well as operational information like equipment staging locations, area access, natural and preferred collection locations and other useful response and natural resource information that helps guide response decisions and actions. Additional plan update meetings are currently scheduled for Miami/ Dade County February 24 and 25, 2015.
