OR&R Attends 2016 AMOP Meeting in Halifax, Canada

JUNE 9, 2016 -- During the week of June 6, 2016, NOAA's Office of Response and Restoration (OR&R) staff attended the 39th Annual Arctic and Marine Oilspill Program (AMOP) Technical Seminar on Environmental Contamination and Response in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

AMOP is sponsored by the Emergencies Science and Technology Division of Environment and Climate Change Canada (formerly Environment Canada). OR&R scientists joined several hundred scientists and responders from around the world to share spill research, model development, emerging technologies, and recent case histories.

OR&R staff presented papers, chaired sessions, and participated in discussions on emerging science for marine, freshwater, and terrestrial oil and chemical spills. Special sessions were held on a number of topics including non-conventional oils, oil spill modeling, crude oil by rail, contingency planning, and other related topics.
