MAY 8, 2015--Along with other federal colleagues, Nickie Scillo was an honoree at the Seattle Federal Executive Board's 2015 Public Service Award Ceremony.

She was the only recipient from the Department of Commerce and NOAA. Scillo was recognized for her exceptional problem-solving in staging a major NOAA event in Alaska. The logistics for the meeting at a remote NOAA laboratory in Kasitsna Bay presented unusual challenges. Her careful planning ensured the timely and safe transportation of all 32 attendees, provisioning for them with an offseason caterer and lodging, and equipping them for the week with science gear and materials. Scillo found the crossover point between efficiency and cost effectiveness for this vital meeting and conserved precious travel funds.
