OR&R Meets with American Salvage Association (ASA)

OCTOBER 21, 2016--The director of OR&R, Dave Westerholm, met with the leadership of the American Salvage Association on October 14. Joining the director were Scott Lundgren, the Emergency Response Division Chief, Kate Clark, OR&R Chief of Staff, and Carlie Herring, Research Analyst for the NOAA Marine Debris Program.

This annual meeting allows agencies and this association representing the American marine salvage industry to exchange information on each other's activities. The U.S. Coast Guard, Navy Supervisor of Salvage, and the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement also participated in the information exchange.

OR&R briefed on administration change preparations, FY 2017 budget status, activities relating to Abandoned and Derelict Vessels (ADVs) and Potentially Polluting Wrecks, use of the Environmental Response Management Application (ERMA) for tracking ADVs, Spill Model and Tool enhancements, and OR&R's education and training opportunities.
