OR&R Participates in 2016 Alaska Forum on the Environment

FEBRUARY 12, 2016--The Alaska Forum on the Environment (AFE) is Alaska's largest statewide gathering of environmental professionals from government agencies, non-profit and for-profit businesses, community leaders, Alaskan youth, conservationists, tribal environmental scientist, biologists and community elders.

The full week session was held in Anchorage during the week of February 8-12, 2016, and focused on the pressing environmental issues and challenges faced by many remote villages and tribes in Alaska. Marine debris and oil spills are concerns in the coastal communities and several sessions were held on these topics. The annual winter board meeting of the Oil Spill Recovery Institute (OSRI) was also held during the conference. OSRI was established after the Exxon Valdez oil spill. Doug Helton is the federal chair of the OSRI board.
