OR&R Participates in Multilateral Discussions on Oil Spills

On December 2, 2014, staff from OR&R joined partner U.S. agencies in meetings with Cuba, Mexico, and the Bahamas as part of Multilateral Technical Operating Procedures (MTOP) efforts.

The MTOP workgroup was established in 2011 as a mechanism to exchange information on spill prevention, preparedness, and response efforts related to offshore oil and gas exploration and development. In March 2014,

OR&R supported U.S. Coast Guard efforts on a tabletop drill using a scenario offshore of Cuba. Lessons from that tabletop drill included highlighting the value of NOAA's ERMA and GNOME tools. The next MTOP technical meeting will be hosted by Mexico in 2015.

See more details in this MTOP document.
