OR&R Participates in National Preparedness for Response Exercise Program (PREP) led by U.S. Coast Guard and Chevron

This week the OR&R Emergency Response Division participated in a National Preparedness for Response Exercise Program (PREP) conducted by U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Sector Honolulu in collaboration with Chevron.

The exercise simulated a vessel explosion and release of diesel fuel into the Barbers Point Deep Draft Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii. Lessons learned from the drill will be used to improve the effectiveness of the Hawaii Area Contingency Plan and the Chevron Facility Response Plan. Exercise participants included spill responders from USCG Sector Honolulu, Hawaii Department of Health, City and County of Honolulu, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Chevron, Clean Islands Council, Marine Spill Response Corporation, the Pacific Environmental Organization, as well as NOAA.
