OR&R Participates in NOAA-wide Arctic Coordination Workshop

A NOAA Arctic Coordination Workshop was held in Seattle on January 15 and 16, 2015. The goal of the meeting was to strengthen coordination and planning across NOAA on the Arctic to focus on key thematic areas to be addressed over the next two years building on the NOAA “Arctic Vision and Strategy” and “Action Plan.”

OR&R Director, Dave Westerholm, participated as the NOS Executive Committee Team Member. The newly created Executive Committee is comprised of Office Director level managers from each line office as well as International Affairs and is intended to strengthen line office leadership awareness of Arctic working group efforts.

Kate Clark participated as a member of the NOAA-wide Arctic working group. The NOAA-wide working group promotes, coordinates and aggregates information on administration initiatives with respect to the Arctic, including the NOAA Arctic Action Plan, the National Ocean Policy, and the National Strategy for the Arctic Region. During the workshop, participants helps define top NOAA priorities and initiatives for the near future as the U.S. prepares to Chair the Arctic Council for two years beginning in April 2015.
