OR&R Presents Deepwater Horizon NRDA Science to the National Academy of Sciences Gulf Research Program

MARCH 25, 2016--OR&R staff were invited to present an overview of the Deepwater Horizon NRDA Science and Settlement to the
Gulf Research Program Advisory Board of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) on March 24 in Washington, D.C.


Approximately 30 members of the board and NAS staff attended. Questions and discussion topics included how the trustees determined that an ecosystem level of impact had occurred from the spill, the types of restoration proposed to offset the impacts, the role of microbial degradation, assessment and restoration of highly migratory species, the use of models, the need for integration of restoration and monitoring across programs, and mechanisms for sharing data.
