OR&R Presents to Regional Response Team and at U.S. Coast Guard Academy

NOVEMBER 6, 2015--During the week of November 2, 2015, OR&R’s George Graettinger and Jay Coady attended the Regional Response Team 2 meeting in Edison, New Jersey, on Geographic Response Plans (GRP) to inland rail transportation of crude oil. They were there to present NOAA’s work on the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) Geographic Response Plans (GRP) and the EPA Inland Rail Response Plan projects. These externally funded projects will identify, collect and deliver GRP and related data using the OR&R Environmental Response Management Application (ERMA®). This work will promote ERMA as one of the principle distribution points for these federal government response planning tools and will involve coordination with multiple state agencies and the federal response community.

OR&R’s Frank Csulak and Lisa DiPinto presented the Deepwater Horizon NRDA and proposed settlement to the Regional Response Team meeting participants.

Later in the week, Coady and Graettinger also presented ERMA and the GRP work to U.S. Coast Guard Academy Cadets in New London, Connecticut, who are using ERMA as a tool to gain real-world experience in response as well as data management by creating practical GRP products as part of their training for field deployment. By teaching the cadets on ERMA, their experience can transcend into improved District/Sector planning and help for future understanding of response and assessment needs.
