OR&R Presents on Spill Response and NRDA with NOAA Western Regional Team

DECEMBER 11, 2015—Earlier this week, OR&R attended the NOAA Western Regional Team meeting in Seattle and discussed OR&R’s role in spill response and Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA).

NOAA's Western Region Collaboration Team (NOAA West) is one of eight regional teams established to build regional capacity leading to the development of integrated products and services that meet the evolving demands of regional stakeholders.

A joint team from OR&R’s Emergency Response and Assessment and Restoration Divisions provided the managers from across the western region with an overview of our organization’s roles and responsibilities. Then, using a “crude by rail” spill scenario in the Columbia River, the team engaged the group in a more detailed conversation about OR&R activities, emerging issues, and potential points of cross-NOAA coordination during a range of incident types and scales.
