OR&R Staff Honored with Bronze Medal and Distinguished Career Awards

On February 3, 2015, several OR&R employees received NOAA Bronze Medals and Distinguished Career Awards, presented in Silver Spring, Maryland.

The Bronze Medal is the highest honor award granted by the NOAA Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere, and recognizes superior performance by federal employees. This award went to Amy Merten, Kari Sheets, and Michele Jacobi for delivering technology to improve NOAA’s Arctic preparedness and leading technology standardization and best practices. While this honor recognizes superior performance by federal employees, this achievement could not have been accomplished without the highly skilled contract team of Chander Ganesan, Zach Winters-Staszak, and Robert St. Lawrence.

The Distinguished Career Award honors sustained excellence and long-term achievement in advancing the strategic goals and mission of NOAA. This award went to Glen Watabayashi for sustained exemplary performance in oil and chemical spill preparedness and response through more than 32 years of service to NOAA and the nation.

Congratulations go out to all recipients.
