OR&R Staff Spotlight: Katie Wagner

Katie Wagner is a Communications Specialist in the Office of Response and Restoration’s Assessment and Restoration Division (ARD).

In this role, she works with case teams and branch managers to raise the visibility of East Coast DARRP cases and the environmental mapping platforms of OR&R’s Spatial Data Branch. She develops content for the web and social media, assists with Congressional outreach, and is working with fellow NOAA communications staff on the redesign the DARRP website.

Katie holds a Master’s in Marine Management and a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Prior to joining OR&R she worked at EPA on the Hydraulic Fracturing Study, at the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) on blue carbon and Arctic issues, and at Fisheries and Oceans Canada on Marine Protected Area planning. She found her knack for communications working as a tour guide on tour vessels for five summers in the Halifax Harbour. She’s always had a fascination with the ocean and is thrilled to have finally joined the NOAA family! Katie currently lives in Washington, DC and enjoys getting to the coast whenever possible.
