Planning for Disasters with Jacques Cousteau National Estuarine Research Reserve

Building on a project initiated with the Disaster Response Center in 2012, the Jacques Cousteau National Estuarine Research Reserve (JC NERR) kicked off its Disaster Response Planning on Wednesday.

Meg Imholt presented to give an overview of OR&R and response tools.

The workshop was an early look at disaster response planning with landowners from within the JC NERR. As part of the OR&R presentation, Meg highlighted Atlantic ERMA, the latest ESI maps for the region, the role of Scientific Support Coordinators, disaster debris, and NRDA. Other presentations highlighted other tools and considerations for disaster response planning in the area particularly impacts from severe storms. Moving forward, the group is exploring opportunities to collaborate with OR&R including drills, workshops, and data-sharing.
