DECEMBER 18, 2015 — On December 16, Ed Levine, OR&R Response Operations Supervisor, presented a discussion titled “The Role of NOAA's Scientific Support Coordinators as Liaisons to the U.S. Coast Guard and Scientific Advisors.”

The presentation covered the role of the Scientific Support Coordinator (SSC) as NOAA liaison to the U.S. Coast Guard Federal On-Scene Coordinator, as well as the Office of Response and Restoration, the National Response System and associated regulations governing emergency response, trustee role and natural resource damage assessment. The presentation was well attended with about 15 persons locally and about 50 via webinar. A question and answer session followed the presentation. The greatest compliment received following the presentation was more than one person stated they wanted to be a Scientific Support Coordinator.
