CAMEO: OR&R and EPA Meet to Address Recommendations from Executive Order 13650
OR&R and EPA met on November 18-20, 2014, to address recommendations for CAMEO (Computer-Aided Management of Emergency Operations) made in Executive Order (EO) 13650.
The EO’s goal is to improve safety and security at chemical facilities and reduce hazardous chemical risks to workers and communities. A senior-level working group established as part of the EO identified specific enhancements to the NOAA/EPA CAMEO software program to help address these concerns.
Developed nearly 30 years ago, CAMEO is used by tens of thousands of emergency responders and planners across the nation. The EO specifies that the recommended changes to CAMEO, such as easier access to facility data and integration of certain regulatory standards, must be completed by FY 2016. This meeting established a two-year plan.
