Disaster Preparedness Program Meets with U.S. Senator Rick Scott’s Staff

JUNE 29, 2020 — On June 19, Kate Wheelock, Chief of the Disaster Preparedness Program, and Charles Grisafi, Southeast Regional Preparedness Coordinator, spoke with Washington D.C. and district staff from the office of Senator Rick Scott (FL).

Kate provided an overview of the Disaster Preparedness Program’s (DPP) capabilities, and highlighted how DPP prepares the National Ocean Service and partners to respond to and recover from pollution events and natural disasters. Charles discussed DPP activities and priorities in the Southeast region, with a focus on preparedness and response issues in Florida. They also discussed Senator Scott’s disaster preparedness priorities for the state of Florida, and how the DPP can help support them.
