NOAA-specific ICS-300: Intermediate Incident Command System for Expanding Incidents

Monday, January 30, 2023 to Thursday, February 2, 2023

NOTE: This course is open to NOAA staff (FTEs and contractors) only.

The Office of Response and Restoration (OR&R) Disaster Preparedness Program (DPP) is offering a virtual NOAA-specific ICS-300 class from Jan. 30 - Feb. 2, 2023 (Monday - Thursday), 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM Central Time, with a 1.5-hour lunch break daily from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM.

This online training covers classic Incident Command System (ICS) principles to ensure NOAA staff understand the language of the National Incident Management System and Incident Command System. Familiarity with this terminology is vital when working on an incident response with federal, state, and local governments, as well as partner agencies. Students will also learn about the NOAA All Hazards Incident Management Concept of Operations plan, and how different NOAA line offices respond.

Students will participate in a hands-on learning environment through a series of role playing activities designed to mimic the expansion of an incident response. Roles throughout the simulated response begin at the local level and progress to the level of a NOAA Incident Management Team reporting to senior leadership.

Those interested in applying for the training are encouraged to contact the OR&R Training Team: orr.training@noaa.gov. Deadline for full consideration is Dec. 14, 2022.
