The Alliance unites industry, science, and conservation leaders who share a common goal for a healthy ocean free of trash. The Alliance members work together to implement cross sector solutions. During the meeting, the Ocean Conservancy provided a detailed update on their recent publication “Plastics Policy Playbook: Strategies for a Plastic-Free Ocean”, Alliance members gave updates on their activities, and leading scientists presented on the latest research. The members participated in a field visit to the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve and saw the impacts of a NOAA Marine Debris Program funded grant to reduce trash in the Tijuana River Valley by improving trash capture and removal and implementing novel outreach and prevention programs in Mexico.
