Marine Debris Program Director Participates in Water Pollution Event in Minnesota

DECEMBER 8, 2017 —The NOAA Marine Debris Program (MDP) participated in an event hosted by the Norway House, through the Minnesota Peace Initiative focusing on water pollution.

The MDP Director, Nancy Wallace, gave remarks and participated in a panel discussion along with Geir Wing Gabrielsen, Ecotoxicology Research Program Leader at the Norwegian Polar Institute, and Dr. John Downing, Director of the Sea Grant College Program.

The Minnesota Peace Initiative serves to raise awareness, educate, and foster engagement related to peace issues and peacemaking efforts worldwide. The event was held at the University of Minnesota and was well attended. The audience asked thoughtful questions about marine debris and plastic pollution in our Great Lakes and Ocean.
