Marine Debris Program Moderates Ocean Plastics Panel

JUNE 17, 2019 — On June 4, the Marine Debris Program Director, Nancy Wallace, moderated an Ocean Plastics panel at the Blue Tech Expo in Washington, D.C.

Hosted by the International Ocean Science and Technology Industry Association (IOSTIA), the event featured an interactive technical program focused on new developments, innovative practices, regulatory and funding issues, and case studies of interest to both government and industry. The Ocean Plastics panel focused on technological solutions for the marine debris problem. Speakers included representatives from the non-profit and industry community. They shared the work they are doing to redesign products to produce less waste, use innovative technology to conduct outreach activities, test new technologies to determine effectiveness at reducing marine debris, and conducting cleanup activities.
