Marine Debris Program Participates in the 2020 Oregon Marine Debris Action Plan Educator Workshop

March 1, 2021 — On February 18 and 19, Marine Debris Program representative Andrew Mason (Pacific Northwest Regional Coordinator) attended a virtual workshop comprised of partners from across Oregon.

The gathering allowed participants to share updates on their efforts to educate students and the public about marine debris.

The two-day workshop was hosted by the Oregon Coast Aquarium and Surfrider Foundation. It focused on marine debris outreach, messaging, research, and education throughout the state. This was the third annual meeting of its kind, with the last workshop being held in January 2020. Participants reviewed the updated Oregon Marine Debris Action Plan and identified next steps for collaborative efforts. Participants outlined a framework for a marine debris outreach and education plan for Oregon that they plan to carry out over the next few months.
