This conference (virtually) brought together scientists from around the world to discuss new research on marine debris and microplastics, with a theme focusing on the ‘Fate and impacts of microplastics: Knowledge and responsibilities'. While initiated in 2016, MICRO2020 is the third conference in this series and continues to expand marine debris and microplastic research topics and presentations each edition. This year, approximately 500 presentations (encompassing over 2000 authors) were given throughout the week. Carlie gave one of these presentations, providing an overview of the NOAA Marine Debris Program Funded Research.
