Marine Debris Program Presents to University of Hawai’i at Hilo Marine Science Course

OCTOBER 19, 2020 — On October 9, the NOAA Marine Debris Program’s (MDP) Pacific Island Regional Coordinator, Mark Manuel, provided a virtual presentation to the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo (UH-Hilo) Marine Science 100 course.

Mark provided a general overview of the MDP and current Hawai‘i based prevention and removal projects supported by the program. As an UH-Hilo alumni, Mark provided students with his career path as an undergraduate within the Marine Science Department to conducting coral reef monitoring throughout the Pacific to addressing the impacts of marine debris throughout the Pacific Islands Region.
