Marine Debris Program Publishes Article on Zero Waste Efforts

JANUARY 25, 2021 — On January 16, the Marine Pollution Bulletin published a Viewpoint article written by the Marine Debris Program.

Entitled “Walking the talk: The responsibility of the scientific community for mitigating conference-generated waste,” the article highlights waste reduction efforts that took place at the Sixth International Marine Debris Conference in 2018. The article also calls upon environmental scientists to "walk the talk,” taking on responsibility for waste reduction at scientific events.

The Viewpoint was authored by the Marine Debris Program’s 6IMDC Zero Waste Working Group, including Amanda Laverty, Demi Fox, Carlie Herring, Christy Kehoe, Sarah Latshaw, Sherry Lippiatt, and Amy V. Uhrin.
