The event was held on September 26-28, at Plymouth Marine Laboratory, in the UK.

The 2017 ITAC brought together the technical side of the spill response community to share information on new technologies, trends, and issues that will influence future spill responses.

The Plymouth Marine Laboratory setting continued the theme from last year when ITAC was hosted at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute.  This venue helps to promote understanding, incorporating, and coordinating the substantial academic and published science regarding oil spills in recent years.

During the meeting, Scott Lundgren provided a general overview of the Office of Response and Restoration including high-level information on science coordination, disaster preparedness and response, and the remote sensing studies being conducted under agreement with the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement.  In a separate talk, he provided information on the Shoreline Cleanup Assessment Technique future directions and data standard.

The ITAC meeting was also attended by industry, government, and academic colleagues.
