OR&R Participates in Par Petroleum Oil Spill Exercise in Honolulu

SEPTEMBER 22, 2017--This week OR&R’s Emergency Response Division participated in a Par Petroleum worst-case oil spill exercise held in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Par Petroleum is Hawaii’s leading resource for refined oil products, producing ultra-low sulfur diesel, gasoline, jet fuel, marine fuel, asphalt, and fuel oil for electrical generation. Par operates a refinery in Kapolei, approximately 20 miles west of Honolulu, and distributes refined products statewide. The exercise scenario simulated the release of 20,000 barrels of high sulfur fuel oil during a transfer operation to a tanker at the Barber’s Point single point mooring.
