Working together, staff from the Marine Debris Program, Emergency Response Division, and Assessment and Restoration Division engaged children and adults by demonstrating an oil spill in an urban setting using a model city, brown food coloring, and bottle spray, to simulate rain. OR&R staff also challenged visitors’ knowledge of marine debris with a question wheel, provided educational material, and participated in presentations at the auditorium. An estimated 700 people attended the open house, and many stopped by the OR&R tables.
