OR&R Leadership Meets with Congressional Staff

JULY 29, 2019 — On July 18, OR&R’s division chiefs met with staff from members of Congress in California and Florida to discuss our activities in their states.

Scott Lundgren, Emergency Response Division; Tony Penn, Assessment and Restoration Division; Nancy Wallace, Marine Debris Division; and Kate Wheelock, Disaster Preparedness Program, presented on historical and recent oil spills, active and recently completed assessment cases, marine debris grants and response guides, and disaster preparedness planning, among other topics. The Florida briefing was hosted by the office of Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D FL-23) and attended by staff from the offices of Senator Rubio (R-FL), Rep. Matt Gaetz (R FL-1st), Rep. Kathy Castor (D FL-14th), Rep. Alcee Hastings (D FL-20th), and Rep. Lois Frankel (D FL-21st). The California briefing was hosted by Congressman Jared Huffman (D CA-02) and attended by staff from the offices of Rep. Salud Carbajal (D CA-24th), Rep. Nanette Barragan (D CA-44th), and Rep. Harley Road (D CA-48th) and majority staff from the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
