Dr. Russell Callender, NOS Assistant Administrator, discussed our activities, accomplishments, and preliminary lessons learned. Attendees included roughly 20 staff members representing senators and representatives, democrats and republicans. OR&R mission activities were explained as well as those of Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services (CO-OPS), National Geodetic Survey (NGS), and Office of Coast Survey (OCS). Senior members of each program office were on-hand to answer specific questions. Scott Lundgren, OR&R Emergency Response Division Chief, fielded questions regarding OR&R activities. Congressional staff asked informed questions about staging of equipment and response personnel, identification of pollution releases, how long our field activities may last, and how many staff are currently deployed.
