OR&R Participates in Oil Spill Response Technology Workshop
FEBRUARY 27, 2015--Every two years, California’s Office of Spill Prevention and Response (OSPR) teams up with Chevron to host an Oil Spill Response Technology Workshop to expand responders’ understanding of existing and emerging technologies and help them achieve the best available protection for California waters.
This year’s 3.5 day workshop was held in Alameda, CA and involved nearly 40 different presentations on topics related to Applied Response Technologies (ARTs) such as dispersants, in-situ burning, solidifiers, and surface washing agents; response technology research & development; remote sensing and GIS; field data collection; and Common Operational Pictures (COPs). Well over 100 attendees participated in person and on-line representing all levels of government, industry and non-governmental organizations including several from Canada. OR&R staff members gave several presentations on bioremediation andbiodegradation, un-manned aerial vehicles, a recent shipwreck pollution assessment case, ERMA, and were also integrally involved in broader discussions related to electronic field data collection and COPs.
