OR&R Participates in Pacific States/British Columbia Oil Spill Task Force Annual Meeting

OCTOBER 6, 2017--The week of September 25, OR&R staff participated in the Pacific States/British Columbia Oil Spill Task Force 2017 Annual Meeting and Partners Meeting held in Honolulu, Hawaii.

OR&R presented at a panel session on oil spill data management during and after a spill.  Other special topics at this year's annual meeting included spill response requirements for non-floating oils and the cruise ship industry pollution prevention.

Created in 1989 after the tank barge Nestucca and tanker Exxon Valdez oil spills, the Task Force is sharing information and resources, coordinating regional oil spill prevention projects, and fostering regulatory compatibility.  The Task Force is comprised of representatives from the key spill response agencies in the states of Hawaii, California, Oregon, Washington, and Alaska, as well as the B.C. Ministry of Environment.
