OR&R Presents Lessons Learned from 2018 Hurricane Season

JULY 22, 2019 — On July 16 the OR&R Disaster Preparedness Program chief, Kate Wheelock, attended the Professional Services Council (PSC) membership meeting where she presented lessons learned from the 2018 hurricanes that devastated the mid-Atlantic coast.

Kate provided attending PSC members with the National Ocean Service mission and an overview of actions taken to enhance their preparedness posture and continuity capability. Joining Kate on the panel was Ryan Rockabrand, Deputy Director, Private Sector Division and Federal Disaster Recovery Coordinator for FEMA. From resilience to recovery, panelists provided valuable information on emerging needs and trends from the end-user perspective. The panel provided members with an opportunity to engage in discussion, finishing with time for questions. The meeting was at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) conference center in Arlington, Virginia, and had over 30 PSC members in attendance.
